Passive Income Mindset

Updated on February 10, 2012

In my search and continued persistence to make a passive income online, I have come across a lot of people asking me how to start a passive income. I have been doing this for a few years now, and it has been a lot of hard work to get to where I am. I have made money and lost money by experimentation in trying to find the right combination of things to draw in interest, build list and finally sell my product. But, to get started one has to have the right mindset in trying and getting it done.

There is so much information already on the internet it is hard to dissect it all in one look. Each time I search there is a little information here, and a little more here and it just seems like a giant puzzle piece with no central location. Every website promises you untold riches form an E-book if you just follow my basic plan. If, only reading an eBook and following a uncomplicated plan money would come out of the sky. Unfortunately, it takes the right attitude and determination to get what you want.

The biggest problem with getting an online business up and running is that people are not willing to work at it. You can search the web now and find hundreds of different keywords and find half finished websites. These websites sit dormant because those people that built them changed their priorities. A lot of them is actually pretty decent ideas that could be expanded on. The idea is to find the right motivation, education, and plan to get your online business up and running.

When people come to me asking me, if I have replaced my day job? I tell them no, I still work a 9-5 job and make some extra money from the internet doing affiliates, writing, and other forms of business. Why am I still at my job? Because, I love to do both and the extra income I have from online could replace a full time income I just want to invest more in it until I’m ready. But, getting to the point of having a full time income from an online business takes Time and perseverance. Here, is a small list of things you want to do before you launch your online business.

• Make a business plan

• Create a budget

• Do your research – What are you going to sell, information, or advertiser

• Study from other people, ask questions, join forums in like minded individuals

• Think long term

None of the things listed above will be over night. If, you are contemplating buying an E-book with promises of overnight money then you are wasting your money. Use that money to invest in a website or advertising. Remember to take your time and do your research with the proper keywords, right content, correct advertising and you will succeed. Remember the story of the tortoise and rabbit who won the race in the end?
