Delhi – New Delhi is the capitol city in India. Prior to being named New Delhi it was known as Indrprastha. It is a modern and growing metro area in the heart of northern India. It has some of the most vivid and highly decorated sculptures laid out in the city to celebrate the birth and resurrection of India as a commonwealth of provinces. Some of them on display are the Red Fort, Lotus Temple, Qutub Minar or the newest attraction in New Delhi the Akshardham Mandir.

It is also one of the most well laid out city in India. It was meticousley planned unlike some other cities and getting around by car scooter or bus is not as much of a challenge as in other cities in India. They have a tremendous amount of historical museums, Restaurants, and architecture around this metropolis to satisfy ever visitor to the region. Using the New Delhi metro can also expedite your trip around town. If there is only one city you can visit in India this would be it since people from every province live here you can have the excitement and culture you are craving from India right here.

Mumbai – besides New Delhi another city comes to mind that is just as extravagant and has all the modern convenience that a visitor is looking for. It is the central hub of the financial institution in all of India. With this reason it also attracts a momentous amount of tourist from all over the world. It houses the industry of film for India most of the time referred to Bollywood. So when you visit Mumbai you might get the autograph of the most famous India actor so keep your eyes out. It also has beautiful beaches and the marine dive into the oceanic underworld. It has also added another attraction recently called the Bandra- Worli which is a must see for every visitor to Mumbai

Kolkata – This once historically large city has a unique entrance in the world of Indian culture that must be experienced. This city borders the banks of the mighty river of Hooghy and along its banks are famous architectural wonders from the British colonial period. There Victoria memorial is a great example of the architectural you will see. It also houses some of the largest natural wonders in India including botanical gardens and the oldest tree in India, dating back to the cretaceous period. This is a world treasure city that cannot be missed on your next visit so make sure you check it out.

Interesting article! I've never been to India before. Actually, I haven't been out of the U.S. except for Canada and Mexico. You're lucky you're so well-traveled.

All my appreciation for such wonderful depiction of my country including my city, Kolkata. May i add that apart from the architecture and the banyon tree at the botanics and the many other colonial buildings, Kolkata has the best night life too. We have wonderful clubs and restaurants .. The best discotheque in the country is "Tantra" in our very own Park Hotel!!

This is also the cultural capital of the country having been home to the Nobel winning poet, Rabindranath Tagore!!

New Delhi is though my favourite city in the list, inspite of whatever I may have written here about Kolkata!!
