Twenty Tips to Losing Weight

Updated on September 22, 2012

There are many things people do to try to lose excess pounds every day yet they find themselves either gaining weight or not losing enough and getting discouraged so they stop thinking it is the end. Well, read these 20 tips on ways to lose weight because they really do work time and time again. These are the best methods to help you reach your weight loss goals.

1. Eating

The biggest issue most people have while losing weight is the intake of food that we eat. We all need to watch what we eat if we want to lose weight. Stop the intake of fatty substances and sweets and increase our intake of healthier foods like vegetables, whole grains and fruits.

2. Exercising

The second thing that we need to concentrate on is the ability to move. If we continue to sit on the couch wishing for that miracle drug that will make us loose the pounds we can forget about it happening. Even if you hate to exercise it is a must not only for physical wellbeing but mental as well. So start slow and do it in 15 min increments a day and slowly allow yourself up to ½ hour a few days a week and the pounds will start to come off and stay off.

3. Friends.

Never take friends for granted they can be very helpful in times when you need them. One way is if you are trying to loose excessive pounds. Most of us know someone in the same boat so if both of you are in need of losing weight then that can be encouraging for both of you. Make it a contest or a small competition so that it is both interesting and fun.

4. Weights.

Weights are a great way to help tone your body as well as build substantial muscle. It raises your metabolism which in turn will burn more calories so give it a try.

5. Eat fewer Carbs.

Keeping your diet healthy is essential so staying away from excess carbs is always a good idea so limit your intake on breads and pastas you will notice a great difference.

6. Set Goals.

The biggest thing with losing weight for a lot of people is setting goals and forgetting them. So a good approach might be to set a goal that you want to lose 10 pounds by this date and keep it someplace that will constantly remind you.

7. Soda (no,no)

I know we all love our soda pop and love the way it makes us feel weather it is diet soda or not there is just way to much sugar. So cutting out soda will greatly increase your weight loss. So instead of drinking soda all day try adding a few glasses of water. Not only will it help you cut the extra sugar but also help you feel fuller so that you will not eat as much.

8. Grilled or Boiled?

At all cost avoid anything fried; the grease that is with it carries huge amounts of fat that you do not want to intake. You can still enjoy the same foods but try to boil or grill them instead.

9. Junk food.

When you go to the grocery store never go hungry so after a big meal it will help if you go you can walk of the calories and you will be less enticed to buy junk food that you normally would if you were hungry. Keep your household a junk free food area.

10. Do Not Skip Meals

I think the biggest mistake that dieters do is they skip meals. This is probably the worst idea especially breakfast. People generally eat more calories in the morning so having a regular breakfast will help you through the day and also up your metabolism.

11. Missing out.

If you give yourself a little treat like a cookie or brownie once a day you will feel more that you are not missing out on anything.

12. See what you Believe.

One cool way to trick your mind into thinking you have the same amount is to use smaller plates.

13. Drink Water.

A lot of people forget that a good diet should always include water since 75% of your body is made of it always drink plenty.

14. Everything on your Plate?

Is it really necessary to clean your plate? If your body is telling you that your full eating everything on your plate may just make you sick. So STOP and don’t eat the rest put it away for a small meal later or throw it out.

15. Eat many times a day.

One good way instead of having three full course meals a day is to separate them into smaller 5-6 course meals a day. Your body can metabolize it a lot faster and allow you to burn more calories that way.

16. Fad Diets

Fad diets are just as they sound. The next big thing is probably not going to help much so stay strong and away from fad diets you will do better without them.

17. Exercise Daily

Not just daily but several times a day. Before work do some crunches or weights or after dinner take a walk around the block. You can also work out while watching T.V or taking care of the kids.

18. Measure your Food.

Some people don’t realize when they eat a bag it has a number per serving on there weather 2 or 8 or more. Instead of just cooking everything make sure you know exactly how many servings you are getting.

19. Veggie snacks

Keep some fresh carrots or celery in a plastic baggie in case you have a hunger attack

20. Create Good Habits.

If you do something the same way long enough sometimes as little as 20 times it becomes a habit. Create good habits through repetition of the tips above and you are well on your way.
